Meet Jago & Tom

Hello, my name is Jago and a typical day for me at The Prebendal is my school schedule and my choir schedule, both of which I enjoy very much.

It is great being a Chorister. We occasionally sing abroad or at other places in the country. We are also invited to sing for special events and in the most incredible venues. We have had the opportunity to make an album which was an amazing experience and a special event is the Southern Cathedrals' Festival which is where we join with the choirs of Salisbury and Winchester Cathedrals.

I am passionate about singing and the variety of music we sing. The Cathedral Choir has a tight schedule, especially around Christmas and Easter, but it is very enjoyable and the Choristers sing many languages other than English, such as Latin, German and French.

One of my favourite subjects is Maths as I enjoy working out problems and mathematical questions. My other favourite subject is Latin. Our teacher is fun and he used to be in the Choir as an alto so he points out the connections between the vocabulary we are learning at the time and if it is included in one of the pieces we have sung in the Choir. I also play the Clarinet and the Piano and I take part in 1st Orchestra and Concert Band.

Hello, I'm Tom and I really want to be an actor. It's a lot of hard work but I think it's really rewarding. Being a Chorister helps with building your confidence and performing as we sing in so many different places.

On some boarding evenings, it is Treat Night or Movie Night which are both great fun! I play the Piano and the French Horn which I practice every day. There are a lot of things to do when you're a Chorister and we have activities on Saturdays. Boarding is also fun as you're with your friends the whole time and there are always people around to help you.

Football is really popular at school and I love Maths and Music. I love working with numbers and getting the answers. I love being part of The Prebendal - it's given me the power to perform and the ability to feel so much more confident.

"It is a privilege to be part of The Prebendal community. There is always something to do. It is a friendly place to be and a joy coming here." Jago
