Out & About

We are a city school located in the heart of Chichester in the South of England. Gatwick Airport is under an hour’s drive while travelling by car from Heathrow Airport will take just over an hour and a half.

Southampton Airport is also nearby. There are excellent rail links and Chichester Railway Station (with direct trains to London and Brighton is a few minutes’ walk from the School.

At the centre of Chichester stands the iconic Cathedral and The Prebendal has been the choir school for the Cathedral for hundreds of years. The Choristers are educated at the School and they sing almost every day in the Cathedral which attracts thousands of visitors from around the world every year.

An Enriched Experience

There are plenty of opportunities for our boarders to visit many breath-taking city, country and coastal attractions such as the South Downs, the Isle of Wight and beautiful country estates. Head south of Chichester and there are wonderful seaside beaches for our boarders to go swimming and build sandcastles! While on our doorstep, we have Chichester itself which is a small, beautiful and safe city renowned for its heritage and enclosed in ancient city walls.

Activities for Boarders

Our activities programme includes in-house entertainment, such as Games evenings, as well as a variety of sporting activities and visits to the cinema or bowling. There are plenty of opportunities for the boarders to connect with home as well either by calling their families in the evenings or video-calling via Skype.

Boarding News from The Prebendal Paper

It has been a diverse start to the Summer Term in the Boarding House, enhanced by the arrival of several international boarders and a number of new flexi boarders. Matron craft has led the way on Wednesdays this term, alongside the Year 5 Taster Night with a Richmond Hall screening of Star Wards: Rogue One. A quiz night and creative craft for Father's Day remain this half term.

Saturdays have also been active again, with trips to Action Stations, LaserQuest, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Chichester Crazy Golf (a firm favourite!) and other sporting expeditions. A trip to Guildford Spectrum for some ice skating is in the offing, and the Big Weekend promises to be a great test of outdoor skill, creativity and, of course, lots of fun!

A special word of thanks and congratulations to the Choristers who had a busy start to the Summer Term. Firstly, a whistle-stop tour to the Netherlands for a concert and two services, then a trip to St Paul's Cathedral to sing for the Sons & Friends of the Clergy service alongside Chester Cathedral Choir and St Paul's Cathedral Choir. The boys (and men) have sung fantastically throughout, with further exceptional singing at both Evensongs for the Cathedral Organists' Association.
