The Prebendal Young Writer of the Year Results

The Prebendal has held its annual Young Writer of the Year competition with Chichester author, Christopher Joyce, on hand to present the awards.

The creator of The Creatures of Chichester book series and founder of CHINDI, the local network of independent authors, visited the school on Friday 14th June 2019 for the special awards ceremony.

The competition was aimed at children Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and entrants were asked to submit an original fictional short story in English of no more than 600 words. Entries were judged on originality, story structure, characterisation, and imaginative use of language. 

This Year's Special Guest
We will be delighted to welcome to our awards ceremony local author, Christopher Joyce, who has written The Creatures of Chichester book series. He is also founder of CHINDI, the network of independent authors in Chichester, and is the 2018 Cornish Writer of the Year.

You can find out more about Christopher at www.creaturesofchichester.com. His stories feature popular pets and smaller animals who work together to solve problems created by the Twolegs (humans).

Head of The Prebendal School, Louise Salmond Smith, said: It was a fantastic evening to celebrate the achievements of so many children who wrote a range of incredible stories. We wanted to inspire them and I think this competition achieved just that."
