Pastoral Care
At The Prebendal School we consider the happiness of each child to be of paramount importance. As well as fostering the academic and physical development of the boys and girls we consider their moral, social and spiritual development to be equally as vital. To this end we hope to create a friendly environment where courtesy, kindness and consideration of others are promoted.
In order to achieve these aims we provide various opportunities for the pupils to discuss issues as they arise and also provide education in life skills as part of the offered curriculum.

Form Teachers
The form teacher is a regular point of contact for the pupils. They will speak to the children each day, encouraging achievement and praising both good behaviour and hard work. They will be aware of any problems regarding friendships and behaviour.
Heads of Pastoral Issues
The school has two teachers who are responsible for more serious issues relating to pastoral matters. One oversees the juniors (years 3-5) and the other oversees the seniors(years 6-8). These teachers lead a regular weekly assembly and will communicate regularly with the teachers within those year groups.
PSHE is particularly important in promoting personal and social development because it helps young people to build their personal identities, confidence and self-esteem. It enables them to recognise, accept and shape their identities, to understand and accommodate difference and change, to manage emotions and to communicate constructively in a variety of settings. Developing an understanding of themselves and empathy with others will help them to form and maintain good relationships, and better enjoy their lives.
