T
he Pre-Prep Department

T
he Prebendal School Pre-Prep educates children between the ages of three and seven. The younger children are situated in Northgate House, a large Tudor house in the centre of Chichester which has been sensitively converted to meet the needs of young children. Our older children are located in Highleigh, a specially designed building in the Prebendal grounds facilitating a natural transition to the Prep School. Classes are small thus allowing for a great deal of individual attention. We aim to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment in which children can feel secure and confident. There are close links to the Prep department, some of whose specialist staff also teach in the Pre-Prep.

N
ational Curriculum principles are combined with traditional
values to provide a broad approach and a balanced curriculum and the staff report regularly to parents. We feel that our approach to the teaching and learning of basic skills of reading, writing, mathematics and science is very effective and gives our children solid foundations for future learning, encouraging them to be self motivated individuals.

I
n addition, a wide variety of after-school clubs provides an opportunity for children to explore many different areas of the creative and expressive arts. The Pre-Prep children have the use of the Prebendal School's facilities including the ICT suite, sports fields and swimming pool and our older pupils join in weekly assemblies in the Cathedral. The Pre-Prep Department has its own Headmistress, who leads a strong team of dedicated teachers committed to giving each child the best possible start in their school life.
