It is a huge privilege to be a Chorister. The boys sing almost every day in Chichester Cathedral and they board here at The Prebendal School. They also regularly take part in concerts, broadcasts and recordings as well as touring and collaborating with other instrumental and choral groups from the UK and abroad.
Chorister training is centred on teamwork. Singing alongside professional musicians, the Choristers learn the value of their individual contribution within a musical group which performs daily at a high level. Confidence, independent learning, listening, discipline, motivation and a dedication to high standards are qualities that become second-nature and stay with a Chorister for life. Choristers are selected from all kinds of backgrounds. The training is provided and scholarships are awarded on the basis of potential.
The Choristers start as 'probationers' in Years 3 or 4 and usually after one year they become full Choristers. Auditions are available throughout the year and the Organist & Master of the Choristers is always happy to hear boys informally and to offer advice on preparing for auditions.
