Pupils Celebrate Music Achievements

Posted on: 08 Dec 2017

Many congratulations to two of our pupils who have been awarded national music places.

Theo, who plays the bassoon, has won a place in the National Children's Wind Orchestra. He is one of the youngest players to be accepted into the Orchestra.

Director of Music, Matt Jelf, said: "We wish him every success in what should be a fantastic opportunity for him. I would like to thank the efforts of our dedicated staff here at The Prebendal, particularly his teacher Anna Macken."

Meanwhile, Isaac will be joining the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Isaac is a cello scholar at The Prebendal and plays the piano. He is also a regular member of the West Sussex Youth Choir.

Around 95% of pupils at The Prebendal play one of more musical instruments and there is an emphasis on practical music-making across every year group. The School operates a number of ensembles, an Orchestra, Concert Band and other dedicated groups with a showcase concert each term. Year 8 Leavers also secure an impressive range of Music Scholarships to a range of prestigious senior schools every year.
