Year 5 and 6 visit Fishbourne

Posted on: 23 May 2023

On Tuesday 23rd May Years 5 & 6 carried out some fieldwork at Fishbourne, led by our friends from Chichester Harbour Conservancy who never fail to inspire and motivate our pupils. We enjoyed a walk alongside the river where we learnt about and discussed the various habitats surrounding the river, including seeing a swan sit on her nest. As part of our Introduction to Rivers topic, it was useful to use geographical language and put it into context. We then worked collaboratively in groups to investigate the depth of a river bend and how it changes from the inside to the outside bend. The pupils enjoyed wading through the river whilst trying to collect data. This was then followed by a field sketch to apply our knowledge of rivers and vocabulary to written work.

Thank yous go out to CHC for another fabulous Fieldtrip, Mr Collings for driving the minibus and Miss Sutcliffe for stepping in last minute with her pretty dress and wellies.
