Welcome to our Pre-Prep
Our Pre-Prep department educates children from Reception through to Year 2. We welcome the young ones moving up from our Nursery while, for some, this is their first experience of The Prebendal as their child is starting school in Reception.
Classes are small enabling a great deal of individual attention and there is a lovely family friendly atmosphere. The Pre-Prep has its own Head, Miss Iona Carmody, who leads a strong team of dedicated teachers who are committed to giving each child the best possible start to their school life.
The children learn in our purpose-built building called Highleigh while the oldest children in Pre-Prep, in Year 2, have individual classrooms in Richmond Hall. Here is a little glimpse into parts of their school day:
|8:15am||Classrooms are open|
|8:40am||Registration for Nursery, Reception, Years 1 & 2|
|11:45am||Lunch for EYFS (Nursery & Reception)|
|12noon||Lunch for KS1 (Years 1 & 2)|
|1:15pm||Collection of Nursery children following their morning session|
|3pm||Collection of EYFS children|
|3:10pm||Collection of KS1 children|
|4:20pm||Collection of children involved in activities|
|5pm||Collection of children in After School Club (extended by arrangement)|
We also run Breakfast & Supper Clubs which go beyond the hours of the normal school day to help busy families who may find it difficult to juggle the drop off and collection times.
As the whole school is on one site, the Pre-Prep children become familiar with the staff and routines of the Prep School thus ensuring a happy and successful transition for all the Year 2 children when they move up into Year 3.
Out & About
Children in the Pre-Prep go on a wide range of trips and outings which enhance their learning. Not only is The Prebendal an official Beach School, but we also provide many opportunities for our young pupils to enjoy the sights and sounds of historic Chichester and further afield. Our close links with Chichester Cathedral mean the Pre-Prep children enjoy spending time in the Cathedral for workshops but also for our concert performances, assemblies and other events.
Their own plays, Sports Day, Prize Giving and concert performances add to their packed calendar with many opportunities for parents to see their work, watch their productions and admire their latest classroom projects.
