Our Personal Development programme encourages a wide range of responsibilities and experiences for each of our year groups so they develop crucial life skills.
Not only do we take advantage of the many attractions right on our doorstep in Chichester, we also venture further afield and there are many opportunities for the children to enjoy team-work and bonding beyond the classroom, noticeably our official status as a Beach School for our younger children.
As the children move into our Prep School (Years 3-8), they enjoy trips and visits as part of their learning journey. In Year 3, there is an overnight camp and a full day of water sports as well as other outward bound skills. In Years 4 and 5, the pupils go on a long weekend in our Michaelmas Term to either Bristol or the Isle of Purbeck for several days exploring team-work and outdoor living.
In Year 6, the children go camping and canoe down the River Wye while in Year 7 they enjoy a week’s immersion stay at a French chateau in Normandy as well as a Geography trip to Moonfleet and Lulworth Cove. In Year 7, our pupils are also preparing for the top year in the School with specially designed leadership lectures and courses.
Finally, in Year 8, our pupils enjoy a range of responsibilities and opportunities for both leadership and development. They take on numerous roles, they host events and give speeches, they help and speak in our Cathedral assemblies, services and concerts and they organise House competitions and fundraising events. Our Year 8s also enjoy being a role model to the younger children and become their ‘Buddy’. We host a Leavers’ programme which includes career talks, e-safety lectures and a week away for outward bound education.
