EYFS Beach School Art

Posted on: 19 May 2023

After visiting West Dean Gardens we decided to continue our learning on the beach. During the trip the children took pictures of their favourite parts of the gardens. We showed the children the pictures, voted for our favourite and then recreated the images on the beach using natural resources. We discussed which resources would be best for the different parts of the artwork and set about creating. The children communicated with one another, asking their friends for more stones or sticks, they worked together to ensure the picture was finished before the sea came up to form the river. Our youngest pelicans were able to tell members of the public who stopped to admire our masterpiece all about how we collaborated and where our inspiration came from. These opportunities demonstrate a natural development in skills and the chance to practice the skills needed in reception.
