Household Musician of the Year 2023

Posted on: 24 Oct 2023

Prebendal School celebrates the incredible success of its former student, Ed Habershon, who left our institution in 2012. Ed has achieved remarkable milestones in his musical career.

After his time at Prebendal, Ed attended Lancing College and pursued further studies at Trinity Laban in London. He is now a proud member of the renowned Band of the Coldstream Guards, known for performing at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle during Changing of the Guard ceremonies. However, Ed's musical prowess goes beyond this prestigious role.

Ed recently became household musician of the year at the Army Musician of the Year competition, a highly esteemed accolade recognising the military's finest musicians. He wowed judges with his brilliant performance of Bach's Concerto in D Major BWV 972 on the Piccolo Trumpet.

Notably, Ed's versatility extends to performing a wide range of instruments, from the trumpet to the saxophone, bass trombone, flute, clarinet, violin, and euphonium. His ability to excel in this competition demonstrates his dedication and adaptability.

In response to his win, Musn Ed Habershon shared, "It was amazing to play with The Countess of Wessex's String Orchestra as a soloist. It was a real privilege. Going forward, this win has given me a lot of confidence. There's always room for improvement though, so I'll keep working hard."

Prebendal School applauds Ed Habershon's exceptional achievements and wishes him continued success in his musical journey. We take pride in being a part of his educational foundation and eagerly anticipate his future accomplishments.
