Enterprise Day

Posted on: 05 Jun 2023

On Monday 5th June, World Environment Day, pupils in year 7 and choristers honed their collaborative skills through a number of tasks during our Prebendal Enterprise day. The brief given; to design, price and market a product able to reduce plastic pollution at West Wittering Beach. Groups were organised as vertical streams so as to allow pupils the opportunity to work beyond their peers and demonstrate leadership, communication and creativity skills.

The theme for World Environment Day this year was to #beat plastic pollution, and after an inspiring look at some of the recent advances made by entrepreneurs such as Boyan Slat, it was time for our inventors to get to work. The day began looking at successful company logo and brand names and identifying the elements which made some businesses stand out above the rest. This was followed by an in depth look at market research, and how companies could collect information to aid  them to look at buyers patterns and what may or may not sell.

Finally there was an pricing and advertising session, whereby video adverts and exciting visuals were created to catch investors attention in a Dragon’s Den style presentation.

Overall, despite a fantastic effort from all groups and pupils the winning group and their invention 'The Shift Roller' went to Joss and Matthew year 7, Julia year 6 and Beatrice Year 4. Have a look at their amazing invention here:
