Harold Hillier Gardens visit

    Posted on: 05 Jun 2023

A glorious start to the half term for the pupils who visited the Harold Hillier Gardens to learn about habitats. We were taught how to sweep with nets to investigate animals living in a long grass meadow. Our next habitat was a woodlands where we carefully lifted logs to investigate what lived in darker places. After collecting material for our collaborative woodland art project, we completed the day with pond dipping. We learnt how to correctly dip nets to ensure we could examine our specimens without risk of injury to the animals.  Hillier staff were very excited when a female Great Crested Newt was identified. Prebendal pupils are definitely their most favourite pond dippers of the year!
