Year 8 visit to the British Film Institute

    Posted on: 21 Jun 2023

Year 8 visited the British Film Institute for a French Study Day on Wednesday 21st June. We felt very privileged as on arrival we were guided to our seats and told this was the screen used for all the premiere and red-carpet events held there. During the morning pupils were encouraged to use French to predict the genres of 3 short clips and undertook vocabulary activities on the theme of each of these. Our tasks were to match environmental phrases and pictures, order a text to match the correct order they arose in the film and give opinions on whether we enjoyed the music in the short films. After a sunny lunch on Southbank, we watched the film 'Belle et Sebastien' a heartwarming story of the friendship between a boy and his best friend, a stray dog. Set in occupied France it painted a picture of the dangers they would have encountered creating a safe passage for Jewish refugees across the Alps. Thank you for having us BFI!
